Introducing the Good Intranet Server Console

Good Intranet Server includes an HTML interface, called the Good Intranet Server Console. You can use this interface to set server configuration, monitor network traffic, and perform other administration duties. You can access the console from a standard web browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 1.5). You can also use Good Intranet software running on your handheld to access the console. The console includes software developed by the Apache Software Foundation (http://www.apache.org).

Understanding Good Intranet Server Properties

With few exceptions, the features available through the Good Intranet Server Console correspond to properties in the Good Intranet properties file, config.props.

Some server properties can be set either through the console or directly in the config.props file. However, there are important differences between the methods for setting properties:

Important: When you install Good Intranet Server for the first time, the server makes a backup of the server configuration file and saves it as config.props.bak. You can use this file to restore the original server defaults if desired. Also, as you make changes to server configuration (using the Good Intranet Server Console interface or the config.props file), make sure you keep a current backup copy of the file.
